Caroline Spear Homeopathy
Promoting healing from within
Homeopathy is a gentle, holistic approach to medicine that has been in use for over 200 years, and is one of the most widely used and trusted of all the complementary medicines. It works in harmony with your body to promote healing from within, and is the only alternative medicine incorporated into the NHS.

About Homeopathy
What is homeopathy?
Homeopathy is a complementary therapy that takes a holistic approach. This means that we look at the whole person: your emotional, mental, environmental and physical presentation and history, not just a collection of disparate symptoms. Because understand that every part of you is connected.
By taking all of these factors into account, I can prescribe personalised remedies that are individual to you, to trigger your body’s own healing forces. Remedies that depend on not just your symptoms, but your mood, your response to cold or heat, movement or stillness, how your body feels, what makes you feel better or worse, and so on.
How does homeopathy work?
Homeopathy works by stimulating the body’s natural capacity for healing itself. It is based on the theory of ‘treating like with like’. Simply put, this means a substance taken in small amounts will cure the same symptoms it causes if taken in large amounts.
For example, a patient with hayfever may benefit from Allium Cepa (onion) because it produces similar symptoms like a runny nose and streaming eyes. However, everyone is different, so the remedies will vary depending on your individual circumstances.
What can homeopathy treat?
Homeopathy can be used to treat many complaints and has even been known to be more effective than pharmacology. From IBS and other bowel conditions to allergies, arthritis, eczema, acute conditions (cough, cold, sore throat, vomiting, diarrhoea), injuries like sprains, strains and broken bones, hayfever, ME and depression. It can help during times of emotional upheaval and transition such as stress and bereavement.
Correctly prescribed, homeopathy is safe to use during pregnancy.

Consultations
Our first consultation will last about an hour. During this time, we will discuss the reason for you coming to see me, but also look at a timeline of your health history, family health history, and explore your personality traits – for example your likes and dislikes, fears, and sleep patterns. All of this helps me to build a holistic picture of who you are.
Prescription and follow-up
After our consultation, I will prescribe a remedy and we will arrange a follow up appointment. The follow up is an important part of your healing process and is usually for half an hour. You may require a repeat of the first remedy, a change of remedy, or nothing at all.
How many treatments will I need?
All my treatments are personalised to the individual, so it depends on you and your condition. We will discuss this during your first appointment.
Can I use homeopathy alongside medication?
Homeopathic treatment can be used alongside conventional medical treatments.
